Custom Jewelry Design Process

Designing a custom piece of jewelry is an exciting experience—but for many people, it can also feel a little uncertain.

What if you can’t picture it? What if it’s not quite right? What if you’re not sure where to start?

At Jewelry Creations, we’ve built a process that removes those concerns. From your first idea to the finished piece, you’ll see each step along the way—and have the opportunity to refine your design before it’s ever created in precious metal.

Step 1: Consultation

Every custom piece begins with a one-on-one conversation. You’ll meet with a member of our team to talk through your ideas, inspiration, and goals.

Some customers come in with sketches or reference photos. Others just have a general idea of what they’re looking for. Either way, we’ll guide the discussion and help shape your vision into something we can begin designing.

This is also where we’ll talk through budget, materials, and timeline so you know what to expect from the start.

Step 2: CAD Design

Once we understand your vision, our designers create a detailed 3D model using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software.

This digital rendering shows the structure, proportions, and details of your piece, giving you a clear picture of how it will look.

At this stage, nothing is final—we’re building the foundation of your design.

Step 3: Refinement

This is where your piece really starts to take shape.

You’ll review the design with us and we’ll make adjustments based on your feedback. Whether it’s subtle changes or more significant updates, we’ll continue refining the design until it feels exactly right.

Our goal is simple: you should feel confident and excited about your piece before we move forward.

Step 4: 3D Wax Model

Once your design is finalized digitally, we take it a step further.

Using a 3D printer, we create a physical wax model of your piece that you can see and try on.

This is one of the most important parts of the process. It allows you to experience the scale, proportions, and overall feel of the piece in real life—not just on a screen.

If something doesn’t feel quite right, we can still make adjustments before moving into production.

In many cases, we can even set stones into the model so you can get a true sense of how the finished piece will look.

Step 5: Creation

Once you’ve approved the design, your piece moves into production.

It is cast in the selected metal, carefully finished, and set with your chosen gemstones by our experienced bench jewelers.

Every step is completed with attention to detail to ensure your piece is not only beautiful, but built to last.

Final Reveal

The final step is seeing your design come to life.

What started as an idea is now a finished piece—crafted specifically for you, with meaning behind every detail.
