Time: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Every November, Jewelry Creations shines a light on a cause that’s close to our hearts: pancreatic cancer awareness. This year, on Thursday, November 20th from 5–7PM, we invite you to join us in our downtown Dover showroom for an evening filled with community, remembrance, and hope.
The event will feature our annual raffle drawing at 6:45PM, streamed live on Facebook, and all proceeds will benefit Amy’s Treat and the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation—two organizations making a tremendous difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families.
A Night of Hope and Community
Our “Shine a Light” event was founded to honor John Cavanaugh, father of Kelly and Kim, who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. Over the years, it has become more than just an awareness event—it’s a gathering of strength, love, and optimism for the future.

As part of the evening, guests are encouraged to participate in “Wish List for a Cause.” For every wish list created that night, Jewelry Creations will donate $10 toward the fight against cancer. It’s a simple and meaningful way to give back while finding pieces that bring a little sparkle to your own life.
Hanging Butterflies of Love and Remembrance
Throughout the evening, guests can write the name of a loved one or a message of encouragement on one of our paper butterflies. These will be hung from the ceiling near our purple neon “Shine a Light” sign, creating a floating tribute to those we’ve lost and those still fighting. It’s a moving visual of shared strength—a reminder that every story, every name, and every life matters.
The Raffle Prize: A Sparkling Symbol of Hope

This year’s raffle prize is a stunning pendant set in 14K white gold, featuring a 2.5 carat pear-shaped amethyst surrounded by a .24 carat diamond halo, complete with chain—a $2,200 value.
Tickets are available in-store and online, and the drawing will be held at 6:45PM, streamed live on our Facebook page.
All funds raised will be matched by Jewelry Creations and donated directly to Amy’s Treat and the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
Amy’s Treat – A Local Legacy of Kindness
Our store manager, Kim, has a deeply personal connection to Amy’s Treat. Over the past year, she’s undergone treatment for breast cancer—and through that journey, Amy’s Treat has been a source of light and love.

Kim shared how much the small, unexpected “treats” meant to her: heartwarming notes, lunch gift cards, a family night out, and even a visit to one of her favorite places, Skin Health Medi Spa. She told us, “During treatment, these gifts just lift you. They remind you that people care, and that makes all the difference.”
Her story isn’t unique—Amy’s Treat has touched countless local families, including Kim’s father, John, and their Aunt Carol, both of whom were also recipients of Amy’s Treat support during their cancer journeys.
Founded in 2007 in memory of Amy Maliszewski, Amy’s Treat continues to bring hope and joy to patients of the Seacoast Cancer Center by providing simple yet meaningful gifts that lift the spirit during treatment.
The National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation
The National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation (NPCF), founded in 2009, provides unwavering support to patients and families affected by pancreatic cancer. Their mission is to improve both quality and length of life through compassionate outreach, patient care programs, and community engagement.
Together, they help families navigate the emotional and physical challenges of pancreatic cancer while creating a supportive community of hope.
Refreshments & Reflection
To make the evening even more special, we’ll be serving our signature mocktail—the Berry Glow Spritzer, along with chocolates and light hors d’oeuvres. Enjoy something refreshing as you browse the store, add to your wish list, and take a moment to reflect beneath the soft glow of our new purple “Shine a Light” sign.

Understanding Pancreatic Cancer
Awareness is a powerful tool. Early detection can make a difference, but pancreatic cancer is often difficult to diagnose because symptoms can be subtle at first.
Common Symptoms
- Abdominal or back pain
- Unexplained weight loss
- Loss of appetite or nausea
- Jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes)
- Light-colored stools or dark urine
- New-onset diabetes or worsening of existing diabetes
Risk Factors
- Family history of pancreatic cancer
- Smoking
- Obesity
- Chronic pancreatitis
- Age (most patients are diagnosed after age 60)
While we can’t yet prevent every case, research and support networks are making strides every day. Events like ours, combined with efforts across the world, help fund critical research and care—bringing us closer to a future without cancer.
